About the Smart Water Conference
The inaugural Smart Water Conference is a single day event to showcase the innovative water management projects supported by the Smart Water Fund.
The Smart Water Conference will provide a platform for knowledge sharing and give delegates the opportunity to meet some of the leading innovators in the water management and research fields.
Hear innovative speakers
The conference features 18 speakers across three different topic streams from a range of industries and sectors. Each project has received funding and support from the Smart Water Fund to implement an innovative project that provides new learnings into water conservation, water recycling and biosolids management.
The three topic streams are:
- Science and technology
- Industry and business
- Community, education and social science

The conference will also feature a keynote address from environmentalist Arron Wood, the 2007 Prime Minister's Environmentalist of the Year Award winner. Arron is an engaging speaker whose work has inspired young people from around the world to care for the environment as the convener of the International River Health Conference for students.
Arron's work in promoting environmental sustainability and his ability to bring the community and corporate sector together has seen him recognised with a number of accolades including the Centenary Medal for outstanding contribution to conservation and the environment, the 2006 United Nations Individual Award for Outstanding Service to the Environment and the 2001 Young Australian of the Year (National Environment Winner).
Conference details
Date: Thursday 22 October 2009, 9:00am to 4:30pm (4:30-5:30pm: Cocktail networking function)
Cost: $110 (inc GST). The conference fee covers all conference materials and catering including the post conference cocktail networking function.
Location: The conference will be held at the new Melbourne Convention Centre adjoining the Exhibition Centre in the South Wharf precinct. Click here for a map of the area.
